I bought this item few weeks ago. Compression shorts work really good, the cup gave good protection but moved around to much making it uncomfortable to walk.

I've used this cup, and it stays in place better than any others that I've used before

Much better than a traditional jock strap.

I wear these in a 2 part system with some other compression shorts. The first pair of compression shorts holds my "goods" in place and the Shock Doctor compression shorts allow me to perfectly place my cup.
Some people may experience problems when wearing these by themselves because your "goods" may move around and get caught which is true with any cup system.
I've taken plenty of direct shots to my cup and it holds up well. No need for a steel cup in my opinion as this does just fine.

Cup does not stay in place in the pocket.

The compression shorts are a decent quality, the cup definitely can take a shot and protect you. However, using the cup in the pocket did not work for me at all. The cup slid around when grappling, creating a nutcracker like device at times rather than protecting. I bought a traditional jock strap and wear the cup in it under the compression shorts now and it works great.

In my opinion the best cup/holder for BJJ and Muay Thai. Fits good and barely notice it when training.
