Known simply as Stitch throughout the sport, the 55-year-old Duran is an elite cut man. His job is to help look after the safety of fighters while allowing them to do what they do best.  No other cut man in history has ever attained the level of respect and credibility on treating fighters. His resume reads as a who's who list of legendary fighters that he has personally treated. In the boxing world, Duran has worked with the Klitschko brothers, Fernando Vargas, Diego Corrales, Johnny Tapia and Mike McCallum, among others. He even appeared in the latest Rocky movie as cut man to the fighter played by Antonio Tarver.   Duran joined the UFC when Zuffa purchased the company in 2001 and also works on The Ultimate Fighter reality TV shows.

Duran grew up a farm worker in small California town of 1,500. His journey to cut man started in 1974 while stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After seeing kickboxing live, he got hooked and started studying Muay Thai.  "Even though I loved training, I just found being a cut man was exceptional because it's a one-on-one thing. You can make a difference in a fight."
