these are at my gym and there ok. the rubber is protective and safe.

keep in mind that with these circular ones its kinda inconvient to do squeeze press and renegade push ups. i would get the hex ones

Regarding the grips on these, they are pretty snug with or without use of weight lifting gloves.

The exterior is also rubberised therefore it is much safer for the weights itself and the floor that you're using it on in the unfortunate event that you have to drop them.

I use these exact weights at the gym. They have excellent grip and are very durable. Just one word of caution, after extended use, the ends tend to loosen up. You'll need to watch out for this since it can be very dangerous if the weighted ends fall off. So always tighten them before you use them!
